World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has launched a social networking site, as it attempts to increase its digital brand awareness.
WWE Universe has been tested since April and currently has more than 200,000 members already signed up, with around 12,000 groups.
The site, which will compete with other social networking sites like Facebook and Myspace, will allow users to connect with other WWE fans and includes profile pages, message boards, and discussion groups.
In addition, a live blog service has been set up, which features interactive commentary during WWE programming.
Brian Kalinowski, WWE general manager of digital media, said "WWE Universe is the first social networking site specifically designed and developed for the WWE online community
We are very excited to provide an online destination that fans can call home."
Last month, WWE unveiled an online video player to accompany its online advertising-supported channel, which is expected to attract over 25 million streams every month.
HS&P is a thinking place. Better thinking means better ideas, faster; more loyalty, innovation and better results.
